J. Todd Inman, Chief of Staff
J. Todd Inman serves as the Chief of Staff for the Department of Transportation. Mr. Inman previously served at the Department as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Operations. Inman was a member of the National Advisory Council of the Small Business Administration appointed by President George W. Bush. He has served in a number of leadership roles at the state and local level. A native Kentuckian, he has over 20 years’ experience in the private sector.
Sean McMaster, Deputy Chief of Staff
Sean McMaster is Deputy Chief of Staff at the United States Department of Transportation. He previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Affairs. Before joining the Department, Mr. McMaster served as professional staff in the Office of Oversight for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
Mr. McMaster also served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Mica where he managed the Congressman’s committee assignments and the development of Federal transportation policy and legislative initiatives.
Mathew Sturges, Deputy Chief of Staff
Mathew Sturges is Deputy Chief of Staff at the United States Department of Transportation. He previously served as Deputy Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. In that role, Mr. Sturges is a key member of the FRA’s senior executive management team responsible for helping lead the agency’s safety regulatory activities, Federal investments in freight and passenger rail, as well as legislative initiatives to advance the Trump Administration’s priorities.
Before joining the Department, Mr. Sturges was Majority Staff Director of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I), where he directed legislative oversight and authorization efforts related to all modes of transportation, including the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. Prior to that he served as the T&I Committee’s Deputy Staff Director, Staff Director of the Aviation Subcommittee, and Director of Member Services. Sturges was also Deputy Director of Government Affairs at the Republican National Committee, and Director of Coalitions for the House Republican Conference led by Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-OH-15th). Previously, he was a consultant at Advancement Partners, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio working on capital campaigns for private educational institutions.
Mr. Sturges is a native of Dublin, Ohio, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Western State College of Colorado. He currently resides in Alexandria, Va. with his wife and two daughters.
